Thrive/Gordon Behrents Senior Center Announces Promotion of Amber Senner to Director of Adult Day Services

GALESBURG, IL – – September 19, 2025 – Thrive/Gordon Behrents Senior Center is thrilled to announce the promotion of Amber Senner to Director of Adult Day Services, effective immediately. With her extensive experience, deep community ties, and proven

leadership, Amber is poised to lead the program to new heights, continuing to deliver exceptional care to persons 60 and over or those with specific needs.

Amber has been a vital part of Thrive since joining in December 2019. Her dedication and skill were quickly recognized, leading to her promotion to Assistant Director within her first year. In this role, she managed administrative duties, provided nursing care, administered medications, and supervised a team of five staff members, ensuring high-quality service for seniors at Gordon Behrents Senior Center and I/DD clients at Thrive Abingdon. Her ability to build strong relationships with clients, families, and community partners has been instrumental in the program’s success.

Amber’s professional journey reflects her commitment to healthcare and community service. Before joining Thrive, she served as an LPN at Monmouth Nursing Home, where she provided comprehensive care to long-term care residents. Her six-year tenure at Kehoe Eye Care in Galesburg, where she held her role as a Certified Paraoptometric Assistant, allowed her to forge lasting community connections that continue to benefit her work today. Amber held the role as a Certified Paraoptometric Technician, holding certifications from Illinois Central College, and is currently a CPR Certified Instructor with five years of experience.

Jackie Jennings, former Director of Adult Day & Health Services, who remains an integral part of the Gordon Behrents Senior Center as the RN Consultant and Manager of Health Services for Thrive, praised Amber’s contributions: “Amber has been fantastic as Assistant Director, bringing unmatched care and dedication to our clients and staff. Her commitment to excellence and her ability to connect with our community make her the ideal choice for Director. I’m confident she will continue to elevate the program.”

Amber’s impact extends beyond her professional duties. As an active member of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s committee, she has championed efforts to raise awareness and support for Alzheimer’s care. Community reviews of the Gordon Behrents Senior Center consistently highlight Amber’s compassionate leadership and the positive difference she makes in the lives of clients and their families.
