“When I was starting out in school, I worked at St. Mary’s Square Living Center. At the time, that was the main living facility for persons with developmental disabilities in our area,” she shared. “Working there was the reason I wanted to get into nursing - to help give a voice to patients when they didn’t always have one.”

From there, she found an interest in psychiatry and behavioral health. When opportunities arose, she focused on the area of psychiatry while working as a nurse and continuing education. She worked inpatient for older adult behavioral health and community mental health as a registered nurse and throughout her continuing education. This led her to St. Francis’ school of nursing for a Master’s of Science in Nursing where she completed her Nurse Practioner's program.

“I wanted to be involved with a board that helps to improve service and care for our community members with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” shared Wold.

Currently, she works for Graham Medical Group in the Behavioral Health Department as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Her focus is medication management services for mental health conditions. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors. Fishing, cooking and spoiling her fur-babies at home.

“We are excited to have such a great addition to our board. With Amber’s hands on experience at St. Mary’s Square, she understands the needs of our participants and our Direct Support Professionals,” Pam Green, CEO of Thrive shared.
